February 22, 2020 10:46 am

Los Angeles Laker star Anthony Davis gave fans a massive scare after early in Friday night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. This happened after a collision with Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr.

Anthony Davis: Injury scare

Just two minutes into the game, Davis grabbed his right calf muscle after trying to go around a Jonas Valaciunas screen. Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr.’s knee collided with Davis on the play.

Davis was guarding Jackson on the perimeter less than two minutes into the game when the two collided on the perimeter. Davis began to limp and removed himself from the game.

After Davis was quickly checked on the bench, he limped to the locker room, where the medical staff determined he has a bruised right calf.  After heading back into the locker room, the Lakers officially diagnosed Davis with a bruised right calf. The Lakers considered Davis healthy enough to play, however.

Mark Medina reported that Davis was diagnosed with the bruise.

He checked back into the game with 8:28 left in the second quarter and the Lakers leading 38-29.

Injuries no match for Davis

The big man returned to the game in the middle of the game’s second quarter and seems to be doing just fine overall.

A previous finger injury actually listed Davis as probable for Friday’s game. Injuries have forced the 6-foot-10 forward to miss seven of the team’s 54 games this season.

In his first season with the Lakers, the former No. 1 pick has continued to prove himself as one of the best big men in the league today.

Davis is averaging 26.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists 2.4 blocks and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 51.9 per cent from the field and 31.6 per cent from deep.
Anthony Davis has helped lead the Lakers to a current first-place standing in the Western Conference with a 41-12 record.
