

March Madness, as the name suggests, starts in the month of March and comes to a conclusion in the month of April. Different schools and colleges from all over the US participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament.
The basketball tournaments are held for both men’s and women’s categories. There is a lot of excitement that swirls around the sporting event as basketball teams from all around the United States fight to compete in the tournament.

A total of 68 teams compete in the end to win the ultimate prize. It is a single fixture knockout tournament, after which obviously one team is crowned national champion. The tournament lasts for three weekends. After the first weekend, only 16 teams remain as part of the tournament called Sweet 16.

During the second weekend, the competition is narrowed down to first the Elite Eight and then the Final Four. The remaining four teams play the semi-final and the winners play the final to earn the crown of national champions.
Alexis Ohanian appreciates the craze about women’s March Madness
Alexis Ohanian is an American internet entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and executive chairman of the famous social media website Reddit. Other than that, he is also known for multiple investments in different businesses, NFTs, and crypto startups. Alexis decided to take to Twitter amid March Madness to bring to light the viewership and audience in attendance for the women’s NCAA game.

There was a narrative that said that there is not much awareness and fan following for women’s March Madness games and NCAA games in general. However, it was an astonishing record-breaking attendance for the first weekend of the NCAA women’s tournament.

Serena Williams’ husband Alexis also showed that female basketball players had their fair share of fan following too and it was not going to stop anytime soon.
