17 Years of LeBron James: On This Day, the King Stormed the NBA World

This day holds a special place in NBA history. Today 17 years ago, high school phenom LeBron James made his NBA debut. James started his journey ready with the burden to carry a franchise on his back.

The homegrown talent of Ohio was expected to change the landscape of the Cavaliers. But LeBron accomplished that goal later down the line, losing the first game of his career. But the basketball world saw a glimpse of James’ talent in the very first game.

He finished the night with 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists while playing almost 43 minutes. It was clear that the Cavs landed a lottery with LeBron and that he would one day lead the franchise to a title. James fulfilled the promise in 2016 by overcoming a 3-1 deficit against the mighty Warriors.

Speaking of James’ career, his resume is loaded with accolades. He has won four NBA championships along with four NBA Finals MVPs in his terrific career. Moreover, James has won four regular-season MVPs as well, along with his sixteen trips to the All-Star games.

Although King James had a few more years left in his tank, he is a sure-shot Hall of Famer. When it’s all said and done, James will be remembered as one of the best players to ever step foot on the basketball court.

This year, LeBron capped a phenomenal season with the fourth NBA ring of his career. Moreover, this was his first ring with the Los Angeles Lakers, who many believed he joined them just to peacefully spend the last few years of his career.

Not only has that narrative been put to bed, now most believe the Lakers have a chance to win multiple titles in the coming years. The Lakers do have a dynamic duo in LeBron and Anthony Davis. If they can add a few more pieces around the duo, it will lock up a championship spot for them.

But it is easier said than done; the league has become very competitive. It is as hard as it gets in the league to win an NBA Championship for the next few years. Most teams have multiple superstars that can carry a team on their back.

Can LeBron James win a few more championships before hanging his sneakers? Well, if he keeps up this level of play, then it shouldn’t be a problem.
