Jordan’s gambling might not be something new for people who have followed him over the years.  Brickowski, who played in the NBA in Jordan’s generation, shared another of his gambling stories. Talking on the BFT podcast, Brickowski told John Canzano he and fellow NBA player Charles Oakley walked into Jordan’s room one morning to find an astonishing scene.

“We go up and we go to Michael’s suite and he has a gambling game still going on from the night before. It’s nine o’clock in the morning and I look around the room and all I see is piles of cash. My mind goes to, ‘We’ll put sleeping gas under the door, everyone will get knocked out and we’ll split the profits.'”

He said that they later realized it was $2 million in cash that they saw in the room.

“I saw Oakley later that night and said, ‘Oak, how much money was in that room? There must have been a million dollars in that room.’ He held up two fingers—there was $2 million in cash in that room.”

Frank Brickowski came into the NBA the same year as Jordan. After initially joining Seattle Supersonics in 1984, he played for a few different teams including Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks, and San Antonio Spurs.

Talking about Jordan on Friday, he said that the Bulls legend had a tendency towards gambling. He said Jordan could afford it and it allowed him to enjoy some time away from the game.

“The guys who made the money and enjoyed the gambling, it gave them a way to escape from the game and the grind. Michael is a normal dude if he’s in a safe environment and he creates a safe environment,” he said.

Michael Jordan did make some money that he could spend. He is, after all, the richest athlete in the world with a net worth of around $2 billion.
