The one debate that will remain never-ending is the NBA’s greatest players of all time.  We hold players at different pedestals because our opinions vary but when Philadelphia 76er’s legend names his favorite players, we can’t help but be all ear’s. Little did we know that the great Allen Iverson holds the Portland Trail Blazers’ star Damian Lillard at very high regard.

Blazers’ Damian Lillard has left a mark on Allen Iverson

The NBA legend came together with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on Showtime’s ‘All The Smoke’ Podcast. They sat and discussed topics like what it was like to play against the deadly Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal, how the game has evolved over the years, and so on. Although one topic really stood out was Iverson listing out his favorites of all time and one unexpected player that made it to the list was our very own Damian Lillard.

Iverson stated, “My favorite is always going to be Mike. But, Kobe, — my one and two. And LeBron [James] just so great. I just love Mike so much,” Iverson said. “And Kobe is the closest thing to me, to Mike. And then LeBron is just, hands down, LeBron James — He’s in a class by himself, you know, what I mean? then, Shaq. And… y’all know how I feel about Steph Curry. But that mother****er Dame D.O.L.L.A. — woo-wee.”

In the past, Iverson had listed his top 5 but Lillard was nowhere to be found. However, it looks like watching the star play in the Orlando Bubble has changed Iverson’s perception majorly.

The star’s future with the Trail Blazers

This was a career-year for Damian Lillard for sure. He caught everybody’s attention with his ‘Dame-Time’ aura and fought tooth and nail to achieve a place in the playoffs. Nevertheless, the Blazers’ didn’t have the greatest of seasons and just making it to the playoffs was certainly not their end goal.

Towards the end of the playoffs, Lillard had to exit the bubble due to an injury. Now that the offseason is around the corner, the Blazers should aim for some big signings that can support Lillard on the court. Lillard is a player who wants to win and won’t be satisfied winning it elsewhere but with his team, the Portland Trail Blazers.
