The Boston Celtics won their last ring in 2008. That team featured some of the best players of that time, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo. This group stayed together until 2012 when Allen left for the Miami Heat.

That move created a divide between Allen and the others. In addition, part of that group was Kendrick Perkins. During a recent interview, he explained why they were unhappy with Allen.

He said, “I heard when he did join Miami, it was how he did it. He didn’t call anybody, he didn’t hit nobody up; the Celtics had an offer on the table for him, he just didn’t answer the phone. Next thing you know… bam!

“Everybody’s reading about Ray joining the Miami Heat and so people are like, ‘God darn Ray! We done been through war together. We don’t get enough respect for you to hit us up?’ So after that, the guys were kinda like, ‘Nah. We cool on Ray.'”

Boston Celtics players still haven’t reconciled with Allen

Garnett and Rondo are still at war with Allen over that move. In 2017, Garnett did not invite Allen to the Celtics reunion citing that he was hurt, and he was no more a Celtic since he joined the Heat.

“When Ray decided to go to the Heat, I felt like he moved on. He went to pursue another ring. He got another ring — shout to him. And that’s it … It was all Celtics invited to this,” Garnett said.

The only member of that team to bury the hatchet with Allen is Paul Pierce. Back in 2017, the duo met in China for an event and put an end to their feud. Pierce also urged Rondo and Garnett to follow suit in the caption, but nothing has happened since then.
