This is going to be the third season when Stephen Curry will play without Klay Thompson. The first two were prior to Thompson being drafted, and now with him being injured, Curry has to play once again without his Splash Brother.

This will not only increase his responsibility as the leader, but also his production. He has capable teammates around him, but Curry will feel he has to go the distance to take the Warriors to a winning situation. Because of this, former NBA player Eddie Johnson feels Curry can be an MVP candidate.

He said, “I think he’s going to have a fantastic year. He is in tremendous shape, I just read an article about his workout, I think it’s sick. The drill that he runs is murder.

“That kid is ready, he’s got a lot to prove.”

Will Stephen Curry get the best out of his teammates?

Johnson later spoke about how Curry may not have Klay or Kevin Durant anymore, but he still has capable scorers alongside him.

He said, “The players that replace Klay and KD, they are not those two players, but they can score. Kelly Oubre can score, Andrew Wiggins can score, and that’s gonna allow Curry to put up crazy numbers. So is it going to transfer to a lot of winning, we don’t know that. But in terms of production, oh yeah.”

Wiggins, on the other hand, is slowly showing that he can be an asset and has played with a lot of determination since his move to the Warriors.

There is no doubt that Curry will have great numbers by the end of the season. But the bigger question is, can he lead the team in the absence of his co-star, Thompson? The West has become a lot tougher since the Warriors won the Conference title two years back. So we will have to wait and watch how Curry leads his team.
