During his playing days, Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan showed how hard he worked. He also ensured that his teammates worked as hard as he did. And if you didn’t live up to his standards, he wouldn’t be pleased.

Former Charlotte Hornets player DJ White reveals Jordan was the same, even as their owner. After buying the Hornets in 2010, they haven’t been successful at all. So White talked about how MJ would get upset.

He said, “You do good, (Jordan) doesn’t really say nothing. You do bad, you come out of the game and you see that little glare. He’d come into the locker room a couple of times and got on us. Really cussed us out.”

When Michael Jordan was so mad that he cussed out the whole team

Later White shared an incident where, after a poor performance, Jordan individually went to almost every player on the team, no matter where they were on the facility, and cussed them out.

“One time he was so mad, he went into the training room, cussed the players out in the training room, came to the locker room, and got the players in the locker room. And the showers. So MJ didn’t play man. If you didn’t give effort, he didn’t like it. Other than that, he was a good owner. He played, so he understood,” White said.

This is the same mentality one can see from Jordan during the Last Dance. He was mean to his teammates often, but it was nothing personal. He just wanted the best for them and also wanted to help them to be able to help the team win.

Former teammate Steve Kerr mentions in the Last Dance that Jordan believed if teammates couldn’t deal with him in practice, they wouldn’t be able to deal with the intensity in the Playoffs. It would have sounded crazy at that point, but six titles later, no one would be complaining.

This elite mentality is what helped him to get six rings, five MVPs, and become arguably the greatest player of all-time.
