LA Clippers’ Montrezl Harrell Has a Message for His Critics After Winning NBA’s Sixth Man of The Year Award

After the Defensive Player of the Year and the Rookie of the Year awards were announced, it’s time for another. LA Clippers center Montrezl Harrell has been announced as the Sixth Man of the Year, beating his own teammate Lou Williams. With this award, the 6MOTY has been won by a Clipper in five of the last seven seasons.

Harrell had a stellar season for the Clippers. Coming off the bench, he averaged 18.6 points per game and averaged 7.1 rebounds. He shot an impressive 58% from the field. With this stat line, he created a record.

After winning the award, Harrell took to Twitter to address his haters.

Former 6MOTY and teammate Williams surprised Harrell with the trophy. Williams won it back to back in 2018 and 2019. He also had won it back in 2015 when he played for the Raptors. He and Harrell have been like brothers, so it was a special moment.

Later three-time NBA Champion Dwyane Wade congratulated Harrell on Twitter. Also congratulating him for his success were former 6MOTY Jamal Crawford, Kings’ big man Richaun Holmes and Harrell’s teammate Patrick Beverley.

After winning the award, the work won’t end here for Harrell. Following a successful individual campaign, he will now be focused on making it a successful team campaign. The Clippers are currently up 1-0 against the Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals. With the way they played, the Clippers look favorites to advance into the next round.

Harrell may be undersized when compared to other big men in the league, but Harrell has never been at a disadvantage due to his energy and athleticism. His performance off the bench, and especially in the final quarter, will be crucial for the Clippers playoff run.
