The LA Clippers are one game away from making history. After beating the Denver Nuggets last night, they lead the series 3-1. If they win Game 5, they will advance to the Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history. With that, they will finally get rid of an unwanted record that they have been holding for almost half a century.

They have come close on multiple occasions. During the 70s, when they were known as the Buffalo Braves, they crashed out of the Semifinals twice in a row. Then as the Clippers, they have lost the Semifinals four times. The most recent one was in 2015 when they lost to the Rockets after being 3-1, only to lose 3-4.

Can the LA Clippers seal the series without any hiccups?

After winning Game 1, the Clippers seemed to switch off in Game 2. Kawhi Leonard, who has been exceptionally consistent, had an off game. He shot 4/17 from the field and just had 13 points. Their scorer off the bench, Lou Williams, also looked out of form. He shot 6/16 from the field and also had just 13 points. Paul George was the only one who had over 20 points but even he shot poorly.

But now, they have bounced back with two wins on the trot. Game 3 had a little back and forth and the Clippers ended up winning by six points. George was the hero that night, as he shot 12/18 from the field to lift the Clippers. Last night was a much more dominant performance. Right from the start, the Clippers took control and the Nuggets never stood a chance.

Game 5 tomorrow could be a similar affair. The Clippers have gained a lot of momentum and should seal the series in five games. It has taken them almost half a century to break this barren run and they could potentially go all the way to get their first-ever title too.
