Anthony Jabbar Davis? Los Angeles Lakers Star Shows Off New Look as Availability Still in Question

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a history of dominating big men. This reign started from George Mikan back in the 1950s to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the 80s. Currently, Anthony Davis rules the roster. Whenever they have had a solid big man on the team, they have found success.
In the past, Abdul-Jabbar had mentioned his admiration for Davis. Alex Kennedy from USA Today had reported back in March 2019 that Kareem said, “I like Davis. I mean, he’s my size and he’s doing it all… There’s nothing he can’t do out there. That’s awesome.” Then a year later, Kareem talked about the similarities between him and Davis. He tweeted in back in March saying, “Anthony Davis is the player that I mostly resemble but I never shot 3 pointers like he does. However, all other aspects of his game are similar to mine.”

Now, Davis has taken this similarity to a whole another level. After suffering from an eyesore, he has been spotted sporting the Kareem glasses look in during the Lakers practice.
Anthony Davis: The new Kareem?
The Lakers’ official Twitter account posted pictures of the new-look Davis, mentioned the resemblance in the caption. Kareem was called the Cap or Captain back in his playing days.

Teammate LeBron James was also hyped about Davis’ new look. He posted the picture of the two on his Instagram story with a caption, “I mean I’m rocking with the look. Anthony Jabbar-Davis.”

Davis arrived in the league as a traditional big man. He averaged 0.1 attempts from three in his first three seasons in the league. But as the game evolved, he evolved his skill set too. Since then he has been attempting more shots from beyond the perimeter and is currently averaging a career-high 3.5 attempts in the 2019-20 season.
According to Hall of Famer Charles Barkley, Davis will be most important for the Lakers. He said, “Nobody in the NBA can match up with Anthony Davis. To me, he’s going to be the guy who’s going to dictate whether the Lakers win the championship or not.”
The Lakers face the Clippers in their season re-opener at 9 pm tonight, but Davis is questionable with an eyesore. If he is unable to play, it will be a big loss to the Lakers and they will be hoping he can return soon.
