The Los Angeles Lakers have found a new weapon in their lineup. After not playing a single game in the bubble, veteran Rajon Rondo has returned as a game-changer. He is now 34, but is showing no signs of slowing down. Further, he was influential in the Lakers Game 3 win against the Rockets.

Despite playing alongside LeBron James, one of the best playmakers in the game, Rondo was the one dictating the play. In the post-game press conference, coach Frank Vogel praised the veteran point guard and talked about the effort he had been putting in.

“I do know that he worked extremely hard. So hard that he hurt his back a little bit,” Vogel said. “You know what kind of gamer he is this time of year, and he’s been spectacular.”

Rajon Rondo: Prime playoff performer

Rondo finished with 21 points and had the most assists on the team with nine. His assists helped him climb up the all-time playoff leaderboard, and his brilliance in the fourth quarter earned him a place in the Lakers records books.

Former franchise legend Magic Johnson was also left impressed and was full of praise for Rondo.

With Rondo back in the lineup, the playmaking duty for LeBron has eased up. With him focused on scoring now, LeBron has been giving Rockets the buckets, while Rondo dishes out the dimes. He has stepped up to be the third-best player for the Lakers. If he can maintain consistency, the Lakers will be the team to beat in the Playoffs.
