The Dallas Mavericks are proven trade experts, and one of their best came during the 2018 NBA Draft. They brought in Luka Doncic, a Slovenian youngster who had not played a single minute in USA. But in just 2-3 seasons, he has become one of the best players in the league.

Tonight, he showed his quality once again, as he had a career-high 46 points against the Pelicans. In this process, he reached 4000 career points in just his 159th game, and joined elite company.

Only Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal have achieved this feat faster since 1976. Those two need no introduction, and it is another reminder of how special Doncic is.

Luka Doncic: Breaking records for fun

Since his debut, the Slovenian has broken a number of records. He already achieved the 4000 points feat tonight, but that wasn’t the only one. He had his 24th game with 30+ points and 10+ assists, which is as many as every other player in franchise history has ever had combined.

That is a reminder that Doncic is one of the most talented players in Mavs history, but fans will be expecting him to use that talent to bring them a ring.
