The coronavirus has affected all fields of life. NBA is one of the entities to have taken a big hit due to the ensuing pandemic. So, to proceed with a return, the NBA was forced to have a bubble environment to keep its players safe. They have also issued a number of protocols to ensure maximum safety. But despite the league taking it so seriously, Denver Nuggets youngster Michael Porter Jr thinks it is being “overblown.”

Clevis Murray from the Athletic reported that Porter Jr said, “Personally I think the coronavirus is being used obviously for a bigger agenda. It’s being used for population control in terms of being able to control the masses of people. The whole world is being controlled.”

Was the Denver Nuggets youngster insensitive?

Porter then said he has never been vaccinated. Next, he ended his soliloquy by saying that though the virus is serious, it is overblown. This comes just a week after Dwight Howard said he doesn’t believe in vaccinations either. But Murray debunks the anti-vaccination claim. He mentions that Porter Jr was enrolled in a university where it was mandatory for players to be vaccinated.

Porter Jr had contracted the virus himself, but recovered. So according to his words, anyone else can recover too. However, it is not the wisest analogy to follow. His colleague, Karl Anthony-Towns, lost his mother to the virus. So Towns, or any other person who has lost their relative or friend, will be furious at such comments.

Fans often blindly follow the opinions of their favorite NBA players. Consequently, players need to be more careful about what they say, at least in sensitive matters like this, where millions have been affected. There has been no comment from the Nuggets following this.

After a bad run of scrimmages, the Nuggets will be hoping to do better. They are currently the third seed in the West and will start their seeding game campaign against the Miami Heat on August 1.
