The Milwaukee Bucks are struggling to hold on to their star, Giannis Antetokounmpo. He is now entering the last year of his contract with the Bucks, and then he can test Free Agency as an unrestricted free agent.

While the Heat’s interest in him has been public, the Mavericks are a dark horse in this race. NBA analyst Bill Simmons believes that instead of the Heat, Giannis should pick the Mavericks.

He said, “If I were him, I’d go (team up with) Luka Doncic. I think Luka is gonna be the next guy. To me it’s a no brainer, I am getting to Dallas. I am hitching my kite to Luka’s right leg.

“I think Giannis is looking at Luka like, ‘if it’s me and him, we’re winning titles. We’re not winning the title, we’re winning four to five titles. I think Luka has the chance to be one of the best six or seven players ever. He’s already the best 21-year old ever. … So if I’m Giannis, I’m going there and waiting.”

Will Giannis Antetokounmpo choose the Mavericks or the Heat?

According to recent reports, the Mavericks are willing to trade anyone except Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. If they are able to clear out some contracts, they will be in an excellent position to bring in Giannis.

While the Heat has a lot of young talent around and Jimmy Butler as a leader to attract Giannis, the Mavericks have a player who is a future all-time great. Doncic is currently the most exciting player in the league, while Porzingis is one of the most talented big men in the league. A trio of Giannis, Doncic, and KP will be lethal, and as Simmons said, it could bring titles.

The Heat might still be Giannis’ #1 option, but a move to Dallas cannot be ruled out. Since Giannis and Doncic are predicted to be the next two greats in the years to come, them teaming up will be unfair to the rest of the league. The Mavericks have won just one title in franchise history, and this duo could potentially add a lot more silverware to their trophy cabinet.
