It may seem weird to say so, but Stephen Curry is currently the oldest player on the Golden State Warriors roster. The 32-year-old is now entering his 12th season in the NBA and will be eager to return strong after his hand injury. He has only played less than 50 games twice in his career and has been fit most of the time.

This is probably why Warriors GM Bob Myers believes Curry can go on till he’s 40. “The plan is we’re hoping Curry can be like a Tom Brady type,” Myers said. “We’re hoping he can be 40, or whatever it is, and pulling up from half-court and being as effective and on some special diet.”

Myers believes that Curry can keep playing since he is a shooter, and one doesn’t lose that skill with age. 38-year-old Kyle Korver shooting 41% from three in the 2019-20 season is a prime example of it.

“Shooters don’t stop learning how to shoot,” Myers said. “I never was one and I’m not one, so I can’t relate. Look, that’s a good thing. That is a fact. Shooters age well.”

Will Stephen Curry go strong till his 40s?

At the moment, Curry’s rival LeBron James is showing the league how it’s done, even at 35. He is one of the best athletes the NBA has ever seen, and one can expect him to go strong even in his 40s. Does Curry have the athleticism to do something similar?

His personal trainer, Brandon Payne, believes in him. “He’s a young 32. He’s still gaining strength, he’s still gaining power, he’s still getting faster,” Payne said back in September. “Those aren’t things you see out of guys that are 32 years old.

“He’s still refining movement patterns, and all athletes develop at different speeds. Not only is his skill level evolving continually, but his body still is developing. And that is a rare thing for a guy at 32 in the NBA.”

Curry may not be as good of an athlete as LeBron, but if surrounded with the right set of players, he can continue to be an asset for the team, even as he reaches 40. He is arguably the greatest shooter of all-time and he can drain a shot from anywhere on the court. So it is always going to be tough to stop him.
