The Dallas Mavericks survived a scare as they held on to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday. Luka Doncic suffered an inefficient night despite scoring 24 points for his team. During the game, he was also close to being postered by Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards.
Anthony Edwards has built an early reputation with his explosiveness. He is struggling with his jump shot but has left opponents reeling with his athleticism and finishing.
Edwards had the ball as the shot clock was winding down towards the end of the second quarter in the Mavs game. Doncic was guarding him, and the rookie completed a sensational finish.

Edwards zipped past Doncic with a quick step and caught him off guard. He drove to the rim and finished with a powerful dunk. Mavericks’ Dwight Powell didn’t bother contesting, otherwise it would have been a mean poster by the young T-Wolves star.
Luka Doncic led the Mavs to a win against all odds
The Mavericks have been very dependent on Luka ever since the start of the 2020-21 NBA season, and the Slovenian has been trying to live up to the massive expectations. The 21-year-old has had some brilliant displays, but overall, he has been far from his best.
Tonight, he struggled with efficiency and shot just 40% from the field, and 14% from three. But Luka scored 14 out of the Mavs’ 32 points in the fourth quarter, which helped them keep the Timberwolves at bay. The Mavs conceded 45 points in the last 12 minutes but managed to hold on and squeeze out a five-point win.

Kristaps Porzingis continued his decent form and finished with 27 points, 13 rebounds, and six monstrous blocks. He shot brilliantly as well, going 52% from the field and 57% from three. Tim Hardaway Jr. also stepped up with 24 points while shooting 60% from the field.
This team effort is what Dallas was lacking earlier in the season. They relied on Doncic a lot, and tonight they showed they can win as a team. This is their third win in four games, and will help them to build momentum for their next game against the Hawks on Wednesday. They beat them last week and will aim to repeat that.
