The WNBA #1 overall pick from 2020, Sabrina Ionescu, has finally made her professional debut. After four years with Oregon, fans were eager to see her hit the biggest stage in the country. After struggling in her first game, all eyes were on her as she attempted to show her true quality in the second game. And she didn’t disappoint.

The New York Liberty’s young sensation erupted for 33 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists against the Dallas Wings. Despite it ending in a loss, she was at her best, shooting 11/20 from the field. During this excellent shooting display, she shot 6/10 from beyond the arc. The 22-year-old point guard was close to recording a triple-double in just her second professional game.

After struggling in the first game, she was happy that she was able to find her groove in the second game. But she still expects more from herself and wants to win. “I definitely felt more like myself, more comfortable and more confident,” Ionescu said. “The game, obviously not happy because we didn’t win. So that part still isn’t up to my standard, our standard as a team and an organization.”

She believes that since they are a new team, with some time, as they build chemistry, they will be able to do better. “With the passes, we’re still getting used to each other. We’re still a new team — a brand new team with a lot of new faces. It’s going to take some growing pains. It’s going to take some time and hopefully, we can just keep building and getting to know each other.”
