Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant has confirmed that he will no be available for the rest of the season.

When the Nets signed him last summer, they expected him to be out for the season. However, an unexpected break in the season raised new hope of a possible return. Many believed, a delayed restart could enable Durant to be fit enough to play. But talking in a recent interview with The Undefeated, the two-time NBA Champion said, he isn’t planning to play again this season.

“My season is over,” he said. “I don’t plan on playing at all. We decided last summer when it first happened that I was just going to wait until the following season. I had no plans of playing at all this season.”

Durant has previously suffered a major injury during his time with Oklahoma City Thunder. He believed his approach towards rehabilitation has changed when compared to his relatively younger self.

“I was putting pressure on myself in previous injuries wanting to hurry up and come back,” he said. “I saw my teammates having fun and wanted to be out there. This time I felt like I was more patient throughout the process mentally and not rushing myself mentally. Not get too excited when my team plays well or I have a good [rehab] day. I’m taking things second by second and I’m trying to look out for what is best long-term.”
