“Bulls Wasn’t Gonna Win”: Former NBA All-Star Reasons Why Michael Jordan is the GOAT

There are several topics in the NBA that divide fans altogether. One such humongous discussion is the GOAT debate. Michael Jordan and LeBron James have been the front runners of this topic for several years running, and everyone has their own opinions. So who does Shawn Kemp pick as his greatest of all time? 

Shawn Kemp enjoyed a successful NBA career, but the Indiana native failed to win a ring during his time. He spent eight seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics and reached the finals once in 1996, but was put to a halt by the Bulls and MJ.

Kemp recently joined ‘The Dab Roast’ series on YouTube where he was asked his take on the GOAT debate, to which he answered without any second thought: 

“Imma say Michael Jordan. I think LeBron James has done great, but only thing Michael Jordan ever did was win,” Kemp mentioned.

Kemp put his statement as he saw fit. He was playing in the NBA when the Bulls triumphed with their double three-peat. He saw them earn those accolades with Michael Jordan running the show. 

This might trigger LeBron fans and bring up debates about how the Lakers star has earned a finals MVP award with three different teams. However, Kemp put forth why MJ will always be the greatest in his eyes.

Six is the magic number behind everyone picking Michael Jordan over LeBron James

LeBron James most recently won his fourth NBA ring. This came as a massive achievement, and the King won a championship for the first time since the glorious comeback in 2016. However, it is no match in front of Jordan’s six championships. 

Shawn Kemp feels there’s nothing LeBron or anyone can do to match up to MJ’s greatness. “Nobody. Only because he’s [Jordan] won the six championships and he’s won six times,” he stated. 

The NBA is an extremely competitive league, and for a team to endure a tiring regular-season and go all the way to the finals, they need a proper leader. Certain fans tend to utter that Jordan would have won nothing without Scottie Pippen by his side, and it tends to get glorified on the media.

However, Kemp has played against them on several occasions and his opinion is far more solid as he’s been there on the court and on the receiving end.

“And I look at Michael Jordan, he played with the Bulls, and he had Scottie Pippen. But without Michael being there, the Bulls wasn’t gonna win the championship. It came from Michael Jordan,” said Kemp.
