If somebody knows anything about college sports and follows it vigorously, they would know that SEC schools hate one another. Therefore, it is natural for legends like Charles Barkley and Peyton Manning to have a rivalry of their own.

Barkley played basketball at Auburn, and Manning played football at Tennessee. However, now the two of them are facing each other on the golf course.

Charles Barkley is set to team up with Phil Mickelson in ‘The Match’. But that’s not the interesting part. Guess who they’re up against? Barkley’s arch-nemesis Peyton Manning, who is teaming up with Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry.

The event is scheduled to take place on Friday, November 27th, at the Stone Canyon Golf Club, Oro Valley, Arizona. Although the greatest golf player in the world, Tiger Woods, won’t be playing at this event, Phil Mickelson is no slop. Mickelson defeated Woods previously in the first Match held in Las Vegas.

However, Manning and Woods together defeated Mickelson and Tom Brady early this year in May. As Match 3 is about to begin, two of NBA’s all-time greats Charles Barkley and Steph Curry are joining Manning and Mickelson.

Charles Barkley takes jabs at Peyton Manning

In an interview, the four players playing on the 27th came together to talk about what they expect. However, with Barkley and Peyton’s history, Chuck didn’t miss this opportunity to take a jab at Manning.

First Barkley talked about his preparations and said, “I will say this if I don’t play well, I’ll be very disappointed. I have hit balls for at least a minimum of five hours a day and I played every single day for the last month.

“If I don’t play well, number one I’ll be disappointed because I don’t want to let Phil down… And listen Payten… I just got to make sure he got my phone number. He texts me all the time,” stated Charles.

But then he took his shots at Tennessee and said, “But since Tennessee hadn’t won a game, there’s been a few weeks since he texts me.”

Peyton did not stand back from a response. He said, “It’s been more of a mental strategy by Steph and I, not to text our opponents.

“We just wanted to kind of get our game faces on. That’s kind of news to me that Charles has played and been to the Stone Canyon three times.

“He hasn’t played, he’s just gone there to eat three times. They have great lunch and dinner service. So, this will be his first time playing the course in the actual match on Friday,” concluded Manning.

All of this was said in jest, of course, but all bets are off when it comes to ‘The Match’. We will just have to see who’s a better player when they get down to business on Friday.
