Chicago Bulls Announces Major News: Is This What the Team Needs to Revamp?

Chicago Bulls have appointed former Arturas Karnisovas as their Executive vice president of basketball operations. The Bulls announced on Monday saying Karnisovas will be responsible for all decisions made in Chicago’s basketball operations department.

“Arturas is one of the most respected basketball executives in the NBA. His resumé speaks for itself. I am thrilled that he is now a member of the Bulls,” The Bulls President & COO Michael Reinsdorf said as per the press release.

“As the new head of basketball operations, I am confident that his vision, ability to lead and experience helping build winning teams in Houston and Denver will serve him well here. I am very pleased to welcome him and his family to the City of Chicago and have him officially join our organization.”

Arturas Karnisovas has good experience to bring glory back to Chicago Bulls

Karnisovas, himself a professional basketball player, has a good front-office experience behind him. Not long after ending his playing career, Karnisivas joined the NBA‘s basketball operations office and worked for five years. He later became an international scout for Houston Rockets.

In 2013, he joined the Denver Nuggets as their Assistant General Manager. He was their Vice President of Basketball Operations in 2016-17 and later became their GM. During his time in Denver, Karnisovas was influential in making them a playoff contender. After almost seven years with the Nuggets, Karnisovas will now work with the Bulls.

“This is the height of a dream for me. And I am prepared for the challenge that it presents,” Karnisovas said. “I grew up watching the Chicago Bulls. They represented American basketball and the NBA to a kid from Lithuania. I’ve always had a love for this franchise. And to be a part of it and influence its revival is a privilege. I want to thank Jerry and Michael Reinsdorf and the entire Bulls organization for presenting me with this opportunity and welcoming me and my family to Chicago.”

Bulls relieve GM Gar Forman off his duties

Not long after appointing a new VP for basketball operations, the Bulls announced the firing of their GM Gar Forman. Forman has worked with the Bulls for 22 years. Initially, he was their scout, director of player personnel, and special assistant to executive vice-president of basketball operation. For the last 11 years, he has been their GM.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to work for the Chicago Bulls for more than two decades. There is no better ownership group in professional sports than the Reinsdorfs, and I want to thank Jerry and Michael for their support during my tenure,” Forman said in a statement.
