Recently, In an interview with SiriusXM’s “Sway in the Morning” on Friday, the famous rap icon Eminem recollected a deal with NBA legend Michael Jordan that he thought would never went down. Eminem described how he was on a phone call with Jordan discussing a shoe collaboration.
According to the Detroit rapper, the deal fell apart when he joked about dunking on the NBA legend.
“I was on the phone with him, we were talking, and everything was cool,” Eminem recalled. “He’s super cool, and everything was good until we get to the end of the phone call and I said, ‘Yo man, when are you gonna come to Detroit so I can dunk on you?‘
Eminem described how deadly silent the moments after his bad joke were. Apparently, the end of that conversation mortified him later on.
“It was crickets. I don’t remember exactly what he said, but I think he just kinda of was like, ‘ha ha ha.’ Like laughed. And I remember getting off the phone going, ‘Oh my God, I think I might have just blew it.'”
Further, he justified his seemingly disrespectful behavior by saying that he meant it as a joke. The rapper knew that it was ridiculous for him to even think he could dunk on the 6’6” basketball legend.
