Now that ESPN’s ‘The Last Dance’ has released, everyone is talking about Michael Jordan and his contribution in it. Other memorable Chicago Bulls players like Scottie Pippen and Steve Kerr are also major parts of the docuseries. The two players discussed MJ just a few days ago.
Michael Jordan, the con man?
ESPN’s Amin Elhassan, reported way back in 2016 that Jordan one day found out that the animated bull races the Bulls showed on their Jumbotron were prerecorded. He started asking the Bulls’ operations staff which color bull would win the race that night.

They would tell him and then Jordan would trick his teammate Scottie Pippen into a bet of $100. Unaware that Pippen would agree to the bet and then instantly lose.

However, few days before the docuseries revolving around the Chicago Bulls 1997-98 season released, former Bulls players Scottie Pippen and Steve Kerr joined ESPN’s Rachel Nichols on The Jump and cleared some things out.
The two sat down to discuss what playing that final season with the Chicago Bulls meant to them and many other things during that era. One such topic was about Michael Jordan and his gambling.
Nichols asked MJ’s former teammate Scottie about a rumor which alleged Jordan would use the jumbotron games and bet against a Bulls game ops staff member. Humourously enough, Pippen confirmed the rumor.
“That is a true story, but he never bet at me,” Pippen revealed, clearing out that MJ never included Pippen or Kerr in his gambling. Rather, he would trick staff members.
Pippen said Jordan would bet $100 with one of the team’s security guards every game. Pippen explained,
“We used to have a security guard sitting at the top of our bench, it was John Capps.
Pippen highlighted that Capps would bet Michael every game. The only way Capps would win is if he could pick the right color bull. Because if Michael picked, obviously he would pick the right one.
“He probably beat the guy out of $4,100,” he added.

However, it wasn’t out of luck. MJ was cheating. The arena staff sure helped Jordan make some money on the side while he became one of the most legendary players in the NBA.
