“Don’t Play With Me”: Brooklyn Nets’ Star Kyrie Irving Hits Back at Critics During His Online Sneaker Launch

Kyrie Irving is one of the top guards in the NBA right now. Not only is he one of the flashiest dribblers in the game, but he also has unpluckable handles. Irving became an NBA Champion in 2016 as LeBron James’ co-star. Due to frustrations of being the second option behind LeBron, he demanded to be traded to the Boston Celtics. Since then, Kyrie has moved on to the Brooklyn Nets.
Kyrie comes under media scrutiny regularly. It started with him being labeled immature when he forced his way to Boston Celtics. His time in Boston was bittersweet. Even though he continued to be a top 5 guard in the league, he couldn’t develop as a leader. This led to another acrimonious exit, and Kyrie ended up in Brooklyn with Kevin Durant. The media fire didn’t stop as Kyrie was criticized for singling out players he thought needed to be traded publicly.

Kyrie’s frustrations have come to a boiling point. As a result, he had some strong words for his critics while promoting his new shoe.
Kyrie said, “It’s about on the court. Look at my resume, look at the classics, look at my art. I’ve created it for going on 10-plus years now. Don’t play with me. Don’t play with what I do on a day-in-and-out basis to provide and go out there and create.”
