Michael Jordan is one of the greatest players to ever play basketball. Jordan has incredible stories from his time, from the flu game or even his first win against the Pistons.
Brevin Knight, a former NBA player, sat down with Brandon Knight to talk about his first time playing against Jordan, as part of the Cavaliers team. He said, “Let me tell you this. For that documentary, we’re the only team to beat them multiple times in that season. Because they, I don’t think, took us seriously. Bunch of young guys running around.”

The Cavaliers beat the Bulls twice in the season. The first game was a tense affair for the Cavaliers. Knight said, “First game we played them, it was in Cleveland…We were in the lay-up line. Me and Cedric Henderson, we’re in the lay-up line and we’re out first. They start to run onto the floor. We stopped at the lay-up line and just watched as they run onto the floor. For us, this is like a god, seeing Michael Jordan run on the floor. And now we’re about to play against him.”

The start of the game was an intense period for Knight and the Cavs. The Cavs started the game well, according to Knight. He said, “So Shawn ran by, slapped us both in the back of the head, and said ‘Let’s Go!’. We got to play the game. Go on the floor, and we played a heck of a game. I never heard Michael Jordan say one thing other than this.”
Knight spoke about guard Bob Sura who was guarding Michael Jordan. A little bit of trash talk from Sura proved to be a big mistake. Knight added, “Bob Sura guards Mike in the first quarter and does well. Comes out in the second quarter, talked a little bit. ‘Oh, I got him, we good!’ Mike hit us with about 24, 22 in that second quarter and told him ‘Don’t you ever talk to a legend like that.’… We ended up winning the game, but that was the one moment where I was like ‘Damn!’.

Knight said that while the MJ onslaught was hard to witness, he was thankful to be front and center to see. He said, “(MJ) wasn’t a big talker man, but he was just phenomenal. I’m glad that I got to see his greatness in a court. I got to see every move you thought about that Michael Jordan did, I saw it in a court.”
While Jordan proved his point to the young Cavs team, Knight and the Cavaliers got the last laugh after getting the victory. Very few NBA players can say they took on Michael Jordan and the Bulls and won against them too. It is a memory no one can take away from them.
