Klay Thompson believes the dominant years of Golden State Warriors in the NBA are far from over. The Warriors have been one of the most dominant teams in the NBA over the last decade. In each of the last five seasons, Warriors have played in the Finals – winning three of them.

With the likes of Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and others, the Warriors have been nearly unbeatable. People started drawing parallels to Chicago Bulls of the 1990s, when Michael Jordan and co. used to dominate the NBA.

These parallels got some backing when the Warriors broke the Bulls’ record for the most number of wins in a season in 2015/16.

However, they had a dramatic slip in the 2019/20 season. Prior to the league’s suspension, the Warriors were at the bottom of the Western Conference with the worst record in the NBA.

While many had partly expected a slip due to movements in their roster, very few might have expected such a dramatic fall. At a time when many began to wonder whether it was an end of a dynasty at the Warriors, Klay Thompson believes it is far from over.

“It just kills me inside when I see these other teams, so many talking heads and some of my peers saying, ‘The dynasty is over, they had a great run.'” Thompson said in Above The Water- a short documentary chronicling his rehab.

“I have so much more to give this game, but patience definitely builds character. You don’t have to prove anything anymore, you know? You have three championships. Multiple All-Star appearances. I’ll just be that eager to prove everyone wrong again.”

The film was created by Translation, and directed by Floyd Russ alongside his creative production partner, ‘Tool of North America.’

How Golden State Warriors could come back next season

While the roster movements were partly a reason for the Warriors’ slip this season, a major cause of the slip was injuries to their star men. While Thompson was expected to be out for the season, Stephen Curry suffered a major injury very early into the season. Draymond Green missing games due to injuries only worsened things for the Warriors.

Things might be entirely different for the Warriors when they get back to full fitness next season, Also, they have a high draft pick for the upcoming draft where they can add to their exciting young talent.

And if their latest signing Andrew Wiggins could fit in well, Thompson’s expectations might not be wrong.
