The death of George Floyd at the hands of racist police officers has triggered rage across the country. People of all community and color are coming together to condemn and act and put the guilty behind the bars. As the NBA community is doing its part in helping to spread the word, Giannis Antetokounmpo is the latest player to have voiced out against police brutality.
The discrimination against color is unacceptable. The police officer knelt on Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes which suffocated him, causing his death. People across the country are marching on the streets to put an end to merciless acts like these.
People belonging to the African-American community should not be threatened by cops just because of their color, and Giannis Antetokounmpo thinks it is the time to slam the door on these violent acts.

Giannis Antetokounmpo posts a tweet urging to put an end to racial discrimination
The 2019 NBA MVP is never the one to back down from letting his voice heard. Giannis grew up pushing through hard times and he knows what it takes to get to the top. And as he is at the top, the 25-year-old calls out acts that don’t belong in our society.
Giannis himself is an African-American. His parents are from Nigeria who then migrated to Greece. So the recent racial killings have harshly affected the Bucks player who is sincerely at a loss for words. He took the time to mention his state of mind to his Twitter following and wrote, “I really don’t know how to put into words exactly how I feel, but one thing I know for sure is that enough is enough! It’s time for change!”

Apart from calling out the severity of the issue pertaining to Geroge Floyd’s death, Giannis still mourns over the killing of Ahmaud Arbery. On February 23rd, Ahmaud, who was attending his routine morning jog, was fatally shot dead over suspicion by a white man and his son. Two recent racial killings in such a short time is alarming indeed. The world needs a change and we need to be a part of it.
