There have been plenty of instances in the NBA’s history when players have been constantly compared to other legends. It is nothing new, and neither does it appear any surprise. While some may like being put on the same pedestal as legendary players, LeBron James seems to be an exception.

One tweet that ignited anger in LeBron James
It all started with a harmless tweet from former NBA player Richard Jefferson. He made comments, comparing Giannis Antetokounmpo to Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen.

“Giannis might be a Pippen… there I said it! He needs his Jordan.”
His words indicated that just like Pippen and Jordan’s chemistry, Giannis also needs someone like Jordan by his side.

Jay Williams responded, “So LeBron was a Pippen with D Wade once. Nothing wrong with that until you get over the hump.”

This statement was in reference to Michael Jordan and Pippen’s duo during their time with the Chicago Bulls. They had won six NBA championships together. Therefore, the statement made by Williams made it seem like Jay was comparing Dwyane Wade to Michael Jordan and LeBron James to Pippen.
This comparison did not gulp down well with LeBron, who took to twitter and said, “Explain to me what the f** I gotta do with this subject matter! I’m over here minding my damn business preparing for Houston. And by the way, I ain’t never been nobody but my damn self! Shit!”

However, Williams was quick with his response to LeBron’s anger and justified, “I never stated you were anyone other than LBJ. I know who you are & I have also publicly stated where I stand on your place in history. I was describing a feat that you accomplished in order to be where you are today in relation to where Giannis currently is. We all learn & grow.”

Shannon Sharpe backed up the claim
On Undisputed, NBA Analyst Shannon Sharpe also outrightly refused to accept this comment by Williams. He stated, “At some point in time you have to call out this blasphemy. I love D Wade, but no one has ever said he was better than MJ. So for Jay Williams to say LeBron was Scottie Pippen to D Wade is flat out wrong.”

Well, this incident has definitely shown us a different perspective on how the players really think and believe in it. Some just want to be known for their own individuality and contributions instead of being called the out as the next former legend.
What is your take on LeBron’s views?
