Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Nike deal

Like most top-notch superstars, Nike has Giannis under a multi-million dollar deal. Even before he burst into stardom, Nike placed their trust in the Greek Freak, signing him for a $20,000 per year deal.

However, the deal was upgraded to around $10 million per year back in 2017. Giannis was also promised a signature shoe under Nike. The first Giannis signature shoe made its debut back in June 2019. After the success of the first shoe, Nike also released the Nike Air Zoom Freak 2 recently in July 2020.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is 6’11”, and it’s only natural that he has a higher shoe number than most players. According to Baller Shoes DB, Giannis wears a size 16 shoe. But still, it’s no match against Kevin Durant’s Size 18 that cost his Nets the NBA Playoffs 2021 Game 7 against the Bucks.

Are Giannis’ shoes good?

The Nike Air Zoom Freak 1 was the first signature shoe for the Greek Freak. The name was clearly inspired by his nickname “The Greek Freak” as the shoes have the “Freak” suffix. These shoes did pretty well for the company and they looked quite good too.

Even one year after their debut, the shoes are still out of stock on the official Nike website. Even the Air Zoom Freak 2 followed the same path as the previous shoes. Fans loved the vibrant design of these shoes.

Considering Giannis’ popularity is skyrocketing after bagging back-to-back MVPs and now a ring. It is just a matter of time before he lands another huge deal with the company.
