The Golden State Warriors are a team to behold. Although their current form does not reflect their success in the past years, they have been at the very top. They broke the NBA record for most wins in a regular-season.

Draymond Green has been with the Warriors ever since they drafted him in 2012. The 6-foot-6 forward is versatile and has been an integral part of the Warriors’ dynasty. During this period of quarantine, he has been very active on social media and has also been appearing on podcast episodes.

He recently joined ‘All the Smoke’ podcast with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. Green spoke about a variety of topics pertaining to the Golden State Warriors and also called out Shaquille O’Neal, which might not end well for him.

Draymond Green had a lot to say about his fellow Warrior, Steph Curry. He mentioned how their chemistry rocked the charts and brought a change in the game. The Warriors forward was quick to establish his team as the best ever and inducted himself on the list of the most influential players ever.

If this wasn’t controversial enough, he had other thoughts to share as well. This time he tried to devour Phil Jackson’s Lakers and the mighty Shaquille O’Neal. Green stated that his team could easily beat the three-peat Lakers and “destroy” Shaq on the pick-and-roll. In his words, “We’re the greatest team ever. Me and curry would’ve f****n’ destroyed Shaq in a pick-and-roll.”

Now, this seems a bit far fetched, doesn’t it? Might have crossed a line here. Green may be a former defensive player of the year, but calling out Shaq this way will never end well for anyone. While the Golden State Warriors might have a mighty record in their history, they failed to achieve the three-peat, when they blew it to the Raptors. So that is a point in the Lakers’ favor.

There is no harm in players making bold claims, but when the claims cross the boundary, it becomes a laughing stock. The Lakers are the last team to achieve the 3-peat in the NBA. And Shaquille O’Neal was a monstrous player whose dunks shattered backboards. One can assume for big man Shaq to respond to Green’s provocative comments in the near future.
