After Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning played against Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson, Michael Jordan and Stephen Curry emerge as new possible opponents to play The Match: Champions for Charity.

The golf telecast became the most-viewed on cable TV and raised $20 million for the coronavirus charity. It turned out to be an entertaining session of golf. It involved phases where Charles Barkley would trash talk Tom Brady after a wayward start. But Brady’s reply with an incredible shot was worth a watch.

However, it was Woods and Manning that, unsurprisingly, emerged victorious. But Brady’s performance on an unfamiliar ground to him did impress Tiger Woods.

“I take my hat off to Tom and Peyton,” Woods said after The Match as per BBC Sport. “This is our arena, this is what we do for a living. I couldn’t imagine going on the field and do what they do.”

The Match could possibly be an annual event with various celebrities featuring alongside Woods and Manning every year.

While talking about the possibility of an annual event, Manning said famous personalities like Stephen Curry and Michael Jordan, among a few others, could do good to the show.

“I think you could showcase guys like Steph Curry and Michael Jordan or Tony Romo and Patrick Mahomes, who are all good golfers, elite talents and have great personalities,” Mickelson told the L.A. Times.

“Those personalities are going to come out with this event. Or you could have someone who loves the game and is competitive but is really entertaining like Larry David and Bill Murray. I think that could shine.”

While the success of this years’s show was partly due to lack of sporting action, it does not mean the next year’s competition cannot attract the audience. People will watch it if it is entertaining enough.

“I don’t know what specifically it will look like but it would be a competition while also being entertaining and getting the right mixture of individuals to have their personalities come out the way Peyton and Tom shined in this last one,” Mickelson added.
