It has been 9 years since the Dallas Mavericks lifted its maiden NBA Championship. At that time, Mark Cuban was the man thumping his chest with glory. It looks like they can again make it happen in the coming years if they stick with Luka Doncic. The youngster was drafted third in the round one (2018) by Atlanta Hawks and later traded to the Mavs. ‘The Matador’ went on to win Rookie of the Year 2019 and has promised great potential.

However, he did not become complacent with that success, and had another great start to the 2019-20 season. He stands at an average of 28.7 points per game, 9.3 rpg, and 8.7 apg with 46.1% FG. This stat has improved upon already impressive numbers from the 2018-19 season. He is amped up for the season restart in the NBA Bubble. 

Paul Pierce gives Luka Doncic of Dallas Mavericks the biggest possible compliment

In a conversation with The Jump’s Rachel Nichols and American broadcaster Jorge Sedano, Paul made some ‘OMG!’ worthy comments. He talked about Luka in-depth and heaped praises upon the Slovenian basketballer.

He said, “I expect special things from him. I mean he talked about a kid who made one of the biggest leaps in recent memory from a Rookie of the Year to MVP caliber player I mean he’s won every European Championship that you can think of, every European MVP that you can think of. So I expect special things from this kid. Clearly he’s special, he’s a talent, he’s probably to me… to me, he is THE most talented player in the NBA today. And the lights are never too bright for him, so I expect bigger things out of him come playoff time.”

If this was not enough, NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins jumped in. He explained how Luka is one of the best 20-year-olds to have ever played the game, and this puts him in the line of Magic Johnson and LeBron James.
