Basketball Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins shared a funny story of a time when he had just moved to Los Angeles Clippers.
During his 14th season with Atlanta Hawks, Wilkins had just made his ninth consecutive All-Star appearance. The Hawks, who were on the top of Western Conference at the All-Star break, traded Wilkins on the deadline day of the mid-season trade window. Naturally, Wilkins wasn’t happy with the move to Los Angeles Clippers.

Wilkins recently appeared on NBA Inside Stuff ’90s Reunion. He shared an anecdote that showed how ill-prepared he was for the move back in 1994. The nature of the trade and his sudden shift had frustrated Wilkins immensely. In his frustration, he mistook one of the players, Randy Woods, for a ball boy. Woods was a 5’10 guard who was in his second season in the NBA.
“When I first got traded to the Clippers, I’m p****d off because I got traded,” Wilkins said (H/T Clipperholics.com). “I go in the locker room, I see this kid wearing a pair of Clippers shorts and a long t-shirt. And, again, I’m p****d off. I sit down and say, ‘Hey, ball boy. Go get me some socks.’ He said, ‘I ain’t no damn ball boy. I play on this team.’ I didn’t know.”
