“It All Started From Being that Young Kid”: Dwyane Wade Reveals sneaking into Arena to watch Raptors Legend

Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade recalled the time when he managed to sneak into the arena just to watch Vince Carter play.

When Wade was still playing for his university, the security at the Bradley center allowed him in without a ticket for a game between Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors. One thing that Wade wanted to watch was Carter’s pre-game workout where, Wade said, he would put up a dunk show.

“2000-2001 I am in Marquette university. My team went on a roll and the Milwaukee Bucks were playing the Toronto Raptors. I didn’t have the ticket to the game. But I decided to go to the arena and hoped that the security who worked at our game, because we played at the Bradley Center as well, would let me in. They did!” Wade said in an appearance on NBA on TNT,

“They let me in and I was sitting up there with retired jerseys. But I got there early because Vince Carter was famous for his pre-game workouts. Before the games started, Vince Carter will put on a dunk show.

“It all started from being that young kid that got a chance to get into the arena to see one of his favorite players.”

Vince Carter was one of the GOATs for Dwyane Wade

Two years later, Wade would come into the NBA as the fifth overall pick in the 2003 Draft. He played 16 years in the NBA, 14 of which came for Miami Heat. He led the Heat to three NBA titles in 2006, and two consecutive titles in the big three era in 2012 and 2013. A 13-tie All-Star, Wade finished as the Heat’s all-time leading scorer.

One of his childhood heroes, Vince Carter recently announced his retirement, after playing in the NBA in four different decades. Carter played 22 years in the NBA. Wade called Carter one of his GOATs and thanked him for his inspiring people across the world with his basketball.
