Next season, we will see many players returning from injury. Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and Steph Curry are a few of them. But one of the most exciting returns will be Washington Wizards’ injury-prone star, John Wall. The last time Wall played was back in December 2018. In his absence, the other half of the Wizards backcourt, Bradley Beal, has gone berserk, playing at All-NBA team levels.

While speaking to Ros Gold-Onwude from NBC, Wall discussed his return next season. He was asked how he would rank the duo of him and Bradley Beal among the best backcourt in the NBA for the next season.

Holding up one finger to say number one, Wall said, “I’m always going to say that, cause I know, like, the way I was playing before I got injured, it was at a high level. I’m coming back at that level, even better. And that level Brad is at now, it’s going to be scary.”

Where do the Washington Wizards backcourt rank next season?

Wall was all-praise for Beal and was eager to hit the court with him once again. “That was our leader, this whole season, the season he was having was an All-Star season, All-NBA season,” Wall said. “Just the way he’s developed his game over the last couple of years has been amazing to me. That’s something I can’t wait to get back to, being his backcourt mate and playing with him.”
When asked about the best teammate he has ever had, Wall said, “The best pro teammate I had, I would say, Bradley Beal, because every day he motivates and pushes me to want to be better.”
This season, the Rockets duo of Russell Westbrook and James Harden was the only All-NBA backcourt in the league. But next season, we could have three such duos. The Warriors will boast of an All-NBA backcourt with Klay Thompson and Steph Curry both returning next season.
The Wizards could be the third team if Bradley Beal is named in the All-NBA teams this season. In Wall’s absence, he has stepped up big time. He is currently averaging 30.5 points and 6.1 assists per game. Despite these numbers, he missed out on an All-Star spot. With Wall returning, the Wizards can be a formidable opponent in the East once again.
