Danny Green is a three-time NBA Champion. He has won the title with three different teams and in both conferences, establishing himself as a proven winner. However, Green struggled from the start in the Orlando Bubble. He was shooting cold throughout the playoffs, but people expected him to come important in the clutch. That is exactly what he couldn’t do, missing a wide-open three to lose a championship-clinching game five against the Miami Heat.

After that performance and the narrative around his place in the league, Green thinks there is a chance he might get traded. But not without a phone call from Rob Pelinka himself.

“It’s been, you know, almost 10 years now me hearing about trade rumors. But you know, you ignore the noise. If it happens, happens. Rob Pelinka is a respectful guy. I’m sure he’ll give me a call, I understand the nature of the business, everybody is going to get better everybody’s looking to make moves and get better. So we need to do that as well.

“Hopefully, that part of that process is still keeping me here. I think we bring everybody back. And we do what we did this year and hopefully not in a bubble.”

Is Danny Green facing an imminent departure?

Danny Green may see his Laker journey end in one year and a championship. However, his inconsistent play will make LA question their roster, heading into a more competitive 2021 NBA season. With the Golden State Warriors returning to full-strength and other contenders all looking to make moves, Green may be an asset LA uses to bolster their bench.

However, LA is fine with keeping him on the team. While he struggled this season, a veteran shooter like Danny Green is a perfect part of any championship roster. Whether he deserves his almost $15 million a year contract on this production is a different question that the Lakers need to answer for themselves.
