There was rampant speculation about LeBron James and his NBA future, but he dismissed all that by signing a massive 2-year extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. The deal involves a lot of money, and Rob Pelinka revealed one of the major reasons behind the move.

“I’m sure he will hang many jerseys one day but we hope one of them will be a Lakers jersey,” Pelinka told reporters after announcing James’ extension.

The Staples Center boasts a wide line of iconic jerseys hanging on its rafters. A LeBron James uniform in purple and gold would make it whole. In fact, fans supporting other teams would be extremely jealous if that ever happens!

Rob Pelinka shelled out more details on why the management offered LeBron James a mammoth deal to stay with the team till 2023. There are several perks to it, and Pelinka mentioned a major aspect. 

“LeBron James is a transcendent basketball player, and human being,” he said. Furthermore, Pelinka mentioned how LeBron came to the franchise and believed in the roster until they won a championship. He saw that as a major winning quality in the 4x MVP.

“LeBron put his trust in the Lakers in 2018, and now this contract extension paves the way for LeBron to further solidify his legacy as an all-time Lakers great. We could not be more honored by this commitment,” Pelinka stated
