Anthony Davis was a crucial piece in the Lakers’ 2020 NBA championship run. If it weren’t for him, maybe the Lakers wouldn’t have won their 17th title.

Davis is a big man with the skill set of a guard and flaunts those abilities from time to time. Moreover, he is a defensive beast which was on full display in the 2019-20 season, AD finished as the runner-up in 2020 Defensive Player of the Year.

Ultimately, after staying in mediocrity for a long time with the Pelicans, AD is getting much-deserved success in LA. Although he will arguably go down as one of the best power forwards in NBA history, he is far from the no.1 spot.

Lakers guard Danny Green recently appeared on “The Ringer” podcast, where he talked about the major differences between the two superstars.

I can’t believe you can compare AD to Timmy. I was not saying he is better than Timmy, I was saying a lot of similarities with AD. That doesn’t mean he has a better career. I just thought AD right now, can handle a ball little better than Timmy… That doesn’t mean he better than Timmy.

“… AD, he probably knows he is very talented, but that doesn’t mean he has the same IQ, same drive and mindset as Timmy does. Timmy was just an unbelievable guy… AD, I think could still have ways to go. But Timmy was obviously the greatest of all time in his position.”

Due to his quiet persona, Tim Duncan doesn’t get much recognition from NBA fans. However, he was a terrific player and won five NBA championships with the same franchise in his career.

Can Anthony Davis become the best power forward of all-time?

Looking at Davis’ career, he just won the first championship of his career. But he is still under the wing of LeBron James, who is yet to show any signs of slowing down. Unless AD can win a few rings by himself, it will be hard to put him over Tim Duncan.

But talking about the sheer talent, Davis is a freak of nature. He is a nightmare for opposing teams on both ends of the floor on any given night. If he keeps up this terrific production throughout his career, he might enter the same stratosphere as Duncan.
