LaVar Ball Continues Singing High Praise for LaMelo Ball, This Time Makes a Surprise Comparison with Brother Lonzo Ball

LaMelo Ball was unarguably one of the most touted prospects in the 2020 NBA Draft. He was projected to be picked in the top-5 spot, and the Hornets did just that. They picked Melo with their 3rd overall pick in the hopes to hand the keys of their franchise to him.
Talking about Melo’s potential, his father LaVar Ball, believes that LaMelo will be better than his older brother Lonzo. LaVar discussed Melo’s potential with NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast.
“They’re like phones, you keep making one phone better than the next one… Lonzo I need him, the oldest to lead the team. That’s why he rebound so good because plays as my big man and my best guard. But I cannot have him play defense on the best player, he gonna get tired. I put Melo and Gelo to double team the best player every day.”

LaVar believes that LaMelo has the skill set of both his brothers, and that’s why he is the best player among the three of them. LaVar said, “Now Lonzo is a facilitator, he can do his thing and he can score. But Gelo is a heck of a shooter. Now Melo learns from the both of them so Melo is the only one in my family that can play the 1 or the 2… Melo can flip from playing the 1 out of necessity, passing the ball to flip it over to 2 just to try to score 100 points on his own.”

If what LaVar says is true, then the Hornets will benefit a lot from this ability of LaMelo’s. They can use him more efficiently over the time that he develops under the Hornets.

As good as LaMelo is expected to be, he will be a rookie this year. It will take some time from him to settle down in the league. Moreover, apart from Ball, the Hornets only have a star player in Gordon Hayward, who is not like his previous self after a series of injuries.
Do you think that this duo can lead the team to the NBA playoffs?
