“Let’s Roll, Baby!”: Los Angeles Lakers Staff Ecstatic Over NBA Return and Potential Title Chances

The Los Angeles Lakers were on their way to have one of their best seasons in franchise history right up till play suspension. The Lakers have been the favorites to win the NBA Finals ever since they’ve added Anthony Davis the last off-season.

With the season set to resume in Orlando, with 22 teams on July 31, the Lakers staff is reportedly ecstatic to return to the NBA. According to Dave McMenamin, the team is in good shape for the return of the season. He reported that one of the Lakers coaching staff texted back “Let’s Roll, Baby!” when asked about the resumption of the season.

Last Shot At Redemption for the Los Angeles Lakers?

Over the last few seasons, before signing LeBron James, the Lakers have been one of the worst teams in the league. Apart from missing the playoffs consecutively for the past 6 seasons, the franchise has also lacked stable staff. Losing Magic Johnson and Luke Walton has taken a toll on the franchise.

With the untimely death of Kobe Bryant, the Lakers have an added motivation to win the title. The Larry O’Brien trophy would serve as the perfect tribute to the fallen legend.

With a ring this year, the Lakers would match their long time rivals, the Boston Celtics at 17. LeBron James would also be another step closer to Michael Jordan’s Legacy of 6 rings and will also have a winning mindset moving into the next season. If LBJ manages to match Michael Jordan’s 6 championships, his 4-year contract with the Lakers might be the last of his career.

Best in the West

As of now, the Los Angeles Lakers have the best record in the western conference and the second-best record in the league 49-14. The other two title favorites, namely the Bucks and the Clippers also have similar records this season. Just before the season was suspended, the lakers beat both these teams in back to back weeks. This could be a preview of the western conference finals and the NBA finals this year.
