The NBA had announced the return date for the season as 31st July and the NBPA voted 28-0 to approve it. But now Kyrie Irving has now halted that. He said, “I don’t support going into Orlando.” in a conference call with around 80 players from NBA and WNBA. Surprisingly, LeBron James was not part of this call.
LeBron had already made it public that he wishes for the NBA to continue. ESPN reported that “according to sources with knowledge of James’ thinking, he believes he can affect social change and amplify his impact while playing.” He has constantly been the biggest activist in the NBA. In 2014 when Donald Sterling made racist comments, James said, “There’s no room for Donald Sterling in the NBA,” and was influential in his removal.

“If LeBron James said he hooping, we all hooping”
Los Angeles Clippers’ Patrick Beverly believes in LeBron’s influence on the game. He recently tweeted “If LeBron James said he hooping, we all hooping,” suggesting that as long as LeBron is on board, the league will resume.
Hoopers say what y’all want. If @KingJames said he hooping. We all hooping. Not Personal only BUSINESS🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 🙏🏾 #StayWoke ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿

According to ESPN, an unnamed Eastern Conference executive said, “LeBron is going to make sure those games [in Orlando] are played because he knows they could have a huge impact on his legacy. He knows picking up one or two more titles is the potential tipping point, and he’s determined to go for it.”
Now this could very well be true. Right now being compared to Michael Jordan for the GOAT of NBA, one place where LeBron lacks Jordan is the number of rings. While Jordan managed 6, LeBron currently has 3. He joined Los Angeles Lakers in 2018 in a hope that along with another superstar like Anthony Davis, he will be able to bring glory back to the Staples Center. This year, the team is closer than ever to clinching a title. All players are known to be fit, especially ring leaders LeBron and AD. It will surely help LeBron’s cause to position himself as the real GOAT of NBA with a title #4 with Lakers.
The Los Angeles Lakers are number one in the Western Conference as of now. If the NBA resumes according to the proposed plan, they just need to win three out of the eight games to stay on top. LeBron has also been one of the top two MVP candidates this season and will be itching to get back in action.

Despite him playing at this level even at 35, many believe this is his best chance at a title. With DPOY candidate Anthony Davis by his side, the Lakers are favorites to go all the way and win the title.
