Los Angeles Lakers Player Warns Fellow Players of the Effects of Cancelling the Season

Los Angeles Lakers’ Jared Dudley had a clear opinion on whether the NBA must resume this season.

Recent reports suggest that the National Basketball Association is taking opinions from the players about whether they are willing to play again this season. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported on Tuesday that the regional representatives have started texting players and the responses will be confidential.

“National Basketball Players Association regional representatives started texting NBA players today with a ‘yes or no’ question it says will be kept confidential: Do you want to try and play again this season? The union’s trying to gauge broader sentiment of its 400-plus players.” he tweeted.

As a response to the tweet, Dudley tweeted: “Safety obviously 1st! Nowhere will be as safe as the NBA compound site they determine.”

A player’s opinion on the resumption of the league might depend a lot on the team’s position in the league. Not long ago, Brooklyn Nets owner said that not all the team owners are inclined towards the resumption of the league. He said that a team in contention for the playoffs would be more interested in resuming the league over a team who is already out.

However, Dudley felt that it was much more than just playoffs. He said last week, contradicting ideas of canceling the league, how it affects the league even the next year. He reiterated his thoughts on Tuesday saying the NBA’s revenue will take a huge hit if the league does not resume this season.

“I Don’t think players know the effects of NOT playing does too next year. This is bigger than My team isn’t in the playoffs so who cares! No playoffs, no tv money, NEW CBA next year!” his tweet read.

Dudley is among those players who have a genuine chance to win the title this year if the league resumes. Dudley joined the Lakers last summer who have been experiencing their best season in years. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading them, the Lakers have been among the best teams in the league this season and are among the top contenders to win the title.
