Boston Celtics’ Gordon Hayward received an emotional message from his wife as he got ready to join the team in Orlando. Although NBA players usually have to travel a lot, it is not very often that they will be away from their family for months at a stretch.

The NBA’s resumption requires the players to stay inside the bubble, meaning they will be away from their families for a while. Hayward’s wife Robyn took to Instagram on Wednesday to express how much she would miss her husband.
“Lots and lots of tears today,” Robyn wrote in the caption sharing a few photos of their family. “We knew NBA means lots of travel, but not for months at a time. We’re so grateful for the time we’ve had together but in a way that makes it harder especially for the girls. They’ve got to do so many things together throughout this time which has been so neat to watch. They are so in love with their dad he’s the ultimate playmate and tends to break my “rules” haha so he’s obviously the fun parent.”

Hayward is planning to leave the Boston Celtics team in the bubble later, as he is expecting a child
Hayward is a father of three and the couple is expecting another child soon. The 30-year-old is planning to leave the bubble for his child’s birth, who is due in September.
“He stays with them until they fall asleep at night every night, so lots of changes happening,” Robyn further wrote. “Next time we see Gordon we’ll have our baby boy! We miss you so much and are almost done crying, but we love you and we’re so excited to watch you play!”

Hayward is currently in his 10th season in the NBA and the third with the Celtics. He started his NBA career in 2010 when the Utah Jazz selected him with the ninth overall pick in the draft. He played seven years for the Jazz before joining Boston Celtics.

The Celtics this season will be aiming for a deep post season run. They were third in the Eastern Conference prior to the league’s suspension with 43 wins. Another player on the Celtics roster, Jayson Tatum, had similar concerns to that of Hayward for playing inside the bubble. Tatum has recently said that he had to think a lot about his family before making the decision to play.
