In addition to the team being confirmed, the developmental league is looking at the Mamba Sports Academy as a potential base for the team, according to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes.

The G League offers high-school talents the option of foregoing college to play in their professional league for a year. The new team is a great alternative route for the budding basketball players. They will have the chance to partner up and play against professionals which will increase their exposure before getting into the NBA.

As per Haynes, former NBA head coaches Sam Mitchell and David Fizdale are in the running to be the Select Team’s head coach.

The League is likely to attract more high-school seniors to follow the footsteps of young superstar, Jalen Green. His decision to skip college and join the league created sparks around various young players who would also contemplate the decision now.
