Will we ever reach a consensus about who is the Greatest Of All Time? Is it Michael Jordan or LeBron James? The debate has become tougher after James won an NBA championship last season with the Los Angeles Lakers. So what can help us come closer to a decision? How about getting an insight into the way they are from those who have played alongside them?

Both Jordan and James are from two very different eras of the game. So, there aren’t many players who know and have had the opportunity to play beside them. One of those very few players is Larry Hughes. He has played with Jordan for two seasons and pitched in some time at the Cleveland Cavaliers with LeBron.

Hence, any intel we get from him might answer the most essential question of today’s sports fandom.

With Jordan, Highes basically described him as the icon for basketball. Nothing less than that. He stated, “MJ is the greatest basketball player of all-time, in my eyes. If we look at the Jumpman symbol, LeBron is right there on his shoe. That’s really how I look at it. He’s not too far behind.

“If I had to answer then I’d say MJ. But I’m never going to discredit what LeBron is doing. It’s just a different time. I give credit where it’s due.”

Hughes does not consider LeBron James any less

However, he believes that Bron has a lot of the same qualities as Jordan. “LeBron had the same attention to detail that MJ had. He was focused on the things that happened before him and how he could enhance the game that was played before him. He was a student of the game,” he explained.

“He understands how basketball players play and how they get their job done. The opportunity to have played with both of those guys was amazing. You see similarities in how they pay attention to detail. It’s film. It’s muscle memory. They had the ability to make adjustments based on what happened.”

Hughes gave his expert opinion on the matter. One can only hope this brings some clarity to the GOAT Debate. Although it doesn’t seem like their fans are going to reach an agreement anytime soon.
