The LA Lakers had a big game two win over the Denver Nuggets. However, it had to be sealed by a prayer of a buzzer-beating three by Anthony Davis. The series currently stands 2-0 in favor of LA. Denver has made their name off big comebacks, but a particular NBA analyst and former champion seems to be ruling them out for this series.

Kendrick Perkins boldly claimed that this series is over and that he is retracting his prediction of a 4-1 Lakers series victory for a 4-0 sweep by LA.

“It’s not happening. Not against these Lakers. Not against this championship team. the Lakers had 24 turnovers last night and 16 to 18 of them were unforced. They were playing sloppy basketball and got bored with the process. I love how they are competing right now, but they have no chance of winning this series. Matter of fact, they might get swept. No chance in hell of coming back and winning this series.”

Lakers and their hopes of a series sweep

It is quite surprising to see someone openly count the Nuggets out. While the Lakers are probably the hardest team to mount a comeback against, the Nuggets are the only team that could perhaps do so. They have already done it twice, proving that they don’t give up in these situations. The Lakers will have to come out very aggressively to beat them.

However, LA will be hoping for a sweep. Denver is dangerous when they get even a tiny bit of room to make a series comeback. The sooner LA puts them in the ground, the better. The Clippers failed, but the Lakers are desperately hoping to avoid that fate. Now that Kendrick Perkins has doubled down on them sweeping Denver, it will be interesting to see if they can actually pull something like this off.
