The NBA is all set to return. Fans can rejoice thinking about the 31st of July. Commissioner Adam Silver has dictated the above-mentioned date as the league’s return after an extended hiatus. If there’s anyone who would want to play more than ever when the NBA is back, it would have to be Kevin Durant.
KD has been out of action way before the league called a halt on March 11. During Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals, Kevin Durant ruptured his Achilles tendon causing him to effectively miss out on the entire 2019-20 season.
Meanwhile, as the league is all set to make a comeback, Durant who almost seems to be recovered from his injury, can find himself hearing some good news. The two-time Finals MVP who joined the Nets in 2019, could finally return to action.

Kevin Durant given green light to play by the NBA commissioner
If Kevin Durant is 100% fit, he will be allowed to play as per league’s commissioner Adam Silver. The 58-year-old recently joined the “Inside the NBA” crew on TNT. Silver spoke to Charles Barkley about how the potential return of Kevin Durant would be accepted. KD hasn’t played a single game since the start of the season. Hence, many fans were worried if the league would allow him to play if he returns during the completion of the regular season in Orlando.
“We’re gonna allow it,” Silver said. “And I’d only say, Charles, that this has been the back-and-forth with our teams. There’s so much here that’s not fair, and we’re choosing among multiple bad alternatives given the (coronavirus) pandemic we’re dealing with…I think, ultimately, to the extent a team has a healthy roster and those players are able to come back, they are eligible to play.”

The Nets who are currently in the playoffs spot will largely be boosted by their superstar signing, Kevin Durant. The two-time champion can add a lot of his experience to the team. Along with Durant, the Nets also need Kyrie Irving to return from his injury. If so, the team can certainly hope for a great finish to the season.
The Nets currently stand 7th in the Eastern Conference. They are likely to enter the postseason, provided they put up a few crunch-time performances with or without Kevin Durant in the roster. Last month, Nets GM Sean Marks did not rule out the return of KD if and when the season returned. So far, one can only hope for the ten-time All-Star to get fit by July. It will only make things even more exciting as we can see KD playing for the Nets the very first time.
