Anthony Davis has led the Los Angeles Lakers on a blowout over the Miami Heat. While Miami started the game hot and took an early 13-point lead, the Lakers led by as many as 32 points by the end of the third quarter. This comeback win has a lot of factors to it, and Anthony Davis’ domination is one of the main reasons.

Davis already has 34 points in this game, and his play has been the major difference-maker. While the bench is coming up with their contribution and LeBron James is doing a great job distributing, Davis remained dominant. He ate through Miami’s small lineup and rendered Bam Adebayo ineffective.

Davis dunked the ball midway through the third quarter to give the Lakers a 26-point lead. After the dunk, Davis proclaimed that the game was “over.”

While Miami has pulled off some big comebacks, this one against the Los Angeles Lakers might be a tall order for them.

Anthony Davis: Starting to make his case for Finals MVP?

A lot of the narrative prior to the Playoffs was regarding LeBron James winning his third Finals MVP trophy with a third team. However, Davis might not let James be the first person to do that.

AD’s performances throughout the Playoffs have had a bigger impact on the Lakers. While obviously, Davis doesn’t have the offensive versatility of LBJ, brings results every night. He was averaging 28.8 points heading into this game, an average he has already crossed with his Game 1 performance.

Davis has also done it on the defensive end. He held Bam Adebayo to just 8 points and 4 rebounds and has consistently harassed Miami players in the paint. He has three blocks for his efforts in this game. Davis has truly had an all-around performance to facilitate this victory for the Lakers.

If AD builds on what he did in this game through consistent performances in this series, he may win the first Finals MVP of his career. And we know LeBron James will probably cheer the loudest.
