LeBron James and Anthony Davis came up big in the second half of Game 4. Their performance tipped the scales for a Lakers’ victory over the Miami Heat. LeBron’s offensive attack and Davis’s stellar play on both ends was ultimately too much for the Heat. While the Lakers kept it close even when the superstar duo was misfiring, their elevation in the second half cemented the win.

LeBron James is aware of what is ahead for him and AD, as they are one win away from the NBA Championship. While there will be debate over who was the Finals MVP, those individual honors seem small to these two.

In his post-game interview with Rachel Nichols, LeBron revealed what AD and he do to unlock each other on the court.

“Between me and AD, we hold each other to a standard no one else could hold us to. That’s what it’s all about. He challenges me every night, I challenge him every night. Doesn’t matter if the ball is going in. We have to do things to help our team win. Defensive end, offensive end. And he did that tonight. He was spectacular. Taking the challenge on Jimmy at the start and then he got switched onto a guard and blocked shots. Just gave us extra possessions, offensively.”

James and Davis struggled through the first half but turned up the Heat for Miami in the second. LeBron ended up with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. Meanwhile, Davis had 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. While we have seen them put up bigger numbers, it took them a while to find their offensive rhythm.

The Lakers are now one win away from another championship, which will be LeBron’s fourth. If he wins Finals MVP, he will become second to Michael Jordan in all-time Finals MVPs. AD, on the other hand, will win his first.
